We are incredibly grateful for the safe, compassionate, and high-quality care received throughout our pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period with Dr Porter and his team at Sydney Babies. Throughout our time under Dr Porter’s care, we felt calm, well-informed, and genuinely looked forward to every visit.
Dr Porter has an obvious joy in caring for couples and welcoming babies into the world. His warmth and compassion extend to his team of professionals including Meghan, René, Veronica, and Gill, all of whom we will miss seeing at our appointments.

I had the most wonderful experience bringing my second baby into the world with the Sydney Babies team. Hugh, with the support of his midwife Megan, provides one of the very best continuity of care models available in the private system. Hugh offers more than other private obstetricians as he not only listens but truly understands what mothers need on their journey through matrescence.
From my very first appointment through to my postpartum period, I always felt genuinely cared for. Hugh is an exceptional obstetrician, and the care he provides is made even more special by the incredible team around him. René, Veronica and Gill are so lovely. They are so personable and made every visit something to look forward to.
If sunshine were a person, it would be Megan. It is hard to adequately put into words what a wonderful midwife she is. Warm, kind, supportive and absolutely hilarious. She is also an IBCLC so it was such a blessing to have her advice and guidance with breastfeeding. I loved seeing her during my pregnancy and also checking in with her post partum.
We are so grateful to Hugh and the entire Sydney Babies team for helping us feel special and cared for throughout one of the biggest chapters of our lives. The whole team works so seamlessly together. I couldn't recommend them more highly and I will miss seeing them all.

We recently welcomed our second baby under the care of Hugh, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience.
The minute you walk through the door, you’re greeted with warmth, kindness, and a big smile. René, Veronica, and Gill create such a welcoming environment. Their positivity and attentiveness help ensure that every family feels supported from the very beginning.
Megan is an asset to the practice. Her ability to educate, support, and reassure while helping navigate the emotional complexities of pregnancy, motherhood, and family life is truly special. Her honesty, insight, and sense of humour made a real difference when discussing the realities of life with two young children.

Dr Hugh Porter and the team at Sydney Babies were exceptional. From my very first phone call they treated me with so much kindness and professionalism and this continued during my whole pregnancy journey and aftercare.
Dr Hugh Porter is an absolute professional, and extremely talented surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients. Hugh was always supportive of all my birth choices and happy to take the time to answer my questions and calm my nerves.
When my pregnancy became more challenging towards the end, Hugh guided me through the additional scans, tests and monitoring and went above and beyond to ensure my baby and I were always safe during some really difficult periods. Thanks to Hugh’s meticulous forward planning and preparation for every contingency, my baby and I are safe and well.

From the very first interaction, when he personally called to introduce himself, I felt reassured that I was in excellent hands. My initial consultation was incredibly thorough and detailed, and throughout my pregnancy every step was clearly communicated. Whether it was upcoming scans, pathology requests, or discussing what to expect next, I always felt informed, prepared, and confident in the plan of care.
What sets Hugh apart is how genuinely invested he is in his patients. He took the time to understand my wishes and preferences for birth and ensured they remained at the centre of every discussion and decision. As my pregnancy progressed, he continued to provide honest advice about what birth might look like and what would be required to keep both me and my baby safe, allowing me to make informed decisions every step of the way.

Dr. Hugh Porter is, in my opinion, one of the best obstetricians in Sydney. What makes him different is not only his knowledge and experience, but also his energy, responsiveness, and genuine care for people.
My story with him was quite unusual. Early in my pregnancy, while I had zero problem pregnancy and was a in public care at RPA hospital, I unexpectedly became a patient of a preterm birth clinic and was desperately looking for a second opinion regarding what to do with my short cervix. I called multiple offices, and Dr. Porter was the only doctor who agreed to personally give me 20 minutes of his time over the phone, free of charge. That conversation gave me enormous peace of mind and honestly helped me keep my sanity during a very stressful time.
Later in my pregnancy, I found out my baby was breech and that I would need a C-section. I struggle with uncertainty, and knowing who my surgeon would be mattered deeply to me. Again, Dr. Porter and his team managed to squeeze me in quickly. He was agile, caring, reassuring, and incredibly supportive throughout the process.
I also want to acknowledge the amazing people in his office. Megan, Renee, Victoria, and everyone else I interacted with were absolutely incredible. You can tell that great people work with great people. The level of care, warmth, professionalism, and responsiveness across the whole team is exceptional, and you truly feel supported every step of the way.
Dr. Porter is truly an outlier in the best possible way. If you are lucky enough to be under his care, you are in very safe hands. I cannot recommend him and his team highly enough and will always be deeply grateful for their support.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr Porter for the delivery of our baby earlier this year. He truly stands apart in his level of care, particularly during delivery and postpartum. Given some complications in my first pregnancy, I appreciated how he walked us through our options, clearly explaining how they changed the risk profile. We revisited our plan as the pregnancy progressed, and I ultimately had a c-section. The surgery went perfectly, from my perspective, and my recovery was incredibly easy (one of my main concerns). Dr Porter never rushed our consults and we felt comfortable asking any questions that came to mind. Lastly, and importantly, he surrounds himself with a great team - his practice manager and reception were very helpful and always tried to accommodate requests. The surgical team was also fantastic - the anaesthetist was a stand out. I would highly recommend Dr Porter and his team.

Dr Porter was excellent! He is extremely thorough and always takes the time to provide clear and detailed explanations, which made me feel very informed and reassured throughout my care. After having a horrible experience with a GP at the start of my pregnancy, I became even more appreciative of doctors with good communication skills and he exceeded my expectations with his approach and kindness. I also ended up having a c-section and my scar is very small - it healed beautifully. I felt very well cared for and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful, skilled and compassionate obstetrician. Renee, Meghan (midwife) and other receptionists were just as great! 10 out of 10 to the whole team! 🙂

We had such a wonderful experience at Sydney Babies! Hugh led us each step of the pregnancy and post partum period, making sure we were well informed and took any concerns I had seriously. His knowledge and professionalism allowed me to have a fantastic birthing experience. Every visit to Hugh was a reassurance that we are in the best possible medical care in Sydney, he respected our choice of delivery and made all the effort all the way to maintain the plan whilst keeping both me and our baby girl safe.. we were well informed every step of the way and we were given the chance to make educated decisions during my pregnancy and the delivery too. I can’t begin to thank Hugh and the team at Sydney Babies enough - from the initial phone call with the reception team (René, Veronica and Gill) we felt so welcome and at home.
Hugh is a one of a kind Obstetrician, one you struggle to find! He is calm, kind and caring and took the time in our initial appointment to get to know us as a family and our wishes through the pregnancy and birth. He eased my anxiety through the pregnancy with additional scans and was always on call 24/7 which made the world of a difference as well as coming to see us everyday in hospital. Our birth was so healing and what I had always dreamed of.
Megan, his midwife and lactation consultant was phenomenal and what a privilege to be able to see her during pregnancy and postpartum! After not being able to breastfeed my first baby, thanks to her and her support this journey is completely different!
If you are looking for a genuine and holistic approach to pregnancy, birth and postpartum Sydney Babies is the way to go and I would not hesitate to recommend.

As a first-time mum, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better doctor than Dr Hugh. From my very first appointment, he made me feel calm, informed, and completely supported. When it came time for the birth of my son, I was absolutely terrified, but Dr Hugh and his amazing team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and safe. His calm and reassuring manner, along with his incredible professionalism, made all the difference, I knew I was in the best possible hands. His follow-up care was just as wonderful, he always took the time to check in, answer questions, and make sure both my baby and I were doing well. And the way he would light up and jump at the chance for a cuddle with my little boy just melted my heart. You can tell he truly loves what he does. I’ll always be so grateful to Dr Hugh and the Sydney Babies team (Renè, Veronica & Gill) for their kindness, care, and the genuine warmth they brought to such a special time in my life. ❤️

Hugh and his team are phenomenal. Pregnancy is a beautiful yet scary journey with lots of unknowns but having the right people with you makes all the difference. Hugh and his team knew I was anxious from the get go and treated me with the care and love that I needed, from phone calls to check in to reassurance scans early on in the pregnancy and Hugh’s way of explaining concepts to my husband and I in a way that made us understand without getting overwhelmed. Having appointments with Megan, a midwife and lactation consultant, during and after pregnancy as part of the Sydney Babies package was invaluable, especially with the difficulties in breastfeeding that I had immediately post birth. I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend Sydney Babies to other mamas and am so grateful to the team for the safe arrival of my baby.

My partner and I loved our experience with Sydney Babies. The entire team were incredibly kind and attentive. Hugh went above and beyond to make himself available to talk at any time, which was so reassuring. René was always so warm and welcoming. And Megan (midwife/lactation consultant) was such an incredible additional resource of knowledge.

Hugh is an excellent obstetrician, very attentive and caring. My pregnancy and birth journey had its challenges but one thing was constant - I felt very safe under the care of Hugh and his team at Sydney Babies. Hugh ensured our daughter was brought into this world as safely and healthily as possible and we will forever be grateful for his expert care! I couldn’t be happier that I had Dr Hugh deliver my baby. Not only is he one of the nicest people I’ve met, he looked after me so well and made me feel so comfortable the whole way through my pregnancy and during the delivery. From my initial enquiry through to the 6 week postnatal appointment Dr Porter and his team made us feel so comfortable and like we had known them for years. Throughout the pregnancy, Dr Porter was so informative, relaxed and knowledgeable that despite this being my first pregnancy I never once had any concerns or worries as I knew I was in good hands. When my labour didn’t progress and I needed to have an unplanned C section, there was no concerns or angst as I knew Dr Porter had mine and my baby’s health and wellbeing as his priority. I can’t thank him enough for safely delivering my beautiful daughter and would highly recommend him.

If I could give 100 stars I would! I have never been to a doctor before where I have felt so cared for and heard until I met Dr. Porter and the team. From my first phone call with René I instantly knew this was the practice for us. Right through to the end I received nothing but exceptional care. Dr Porter was amazing throughout my whole pregnancy and delivery. His expertise, kindness, and reassurance made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Our holistic approach
When you choose Dr Hugh Porter and Sydney Babies for your pregnancy care, you will have access to premium and personalised care, including an incredible referral network. Rene, Gill and Veronica form the administrative team and are available Monday to Friday for any concerns you may have. The Sydney Babies approach to your pregnancy is extremely holistic. We run regular antenatal education sessions with pelvic floor physiotherapist Claire Mills, and dietician Stefanie Valakas. Our in-house practice midwife Megan Hangan is a baby whisperer and qualified Lactation Consultant. You will likely see Megan twice during your pregnancy (with a focus on pregnancy planning and antenatal expressing of colostrum) and then twice for feeding support after your baby is born.
