I can’t recommend Dr. Porter highly enough! From my very first appointment through to the beautiful delivery of my newborn, the entire experience was exceptional.
Dr. Porter and his team in the North Shore made me feel genuinely cared for, listened to, and supported every step of the way. Their calm, reassuring presence helped ease my anxieties, and their expertise gave me complete confidence in the care I was receiving. During labour and delivery, they were attentive, compassionate, and incredibly skilled — everything went smoothly, and I felt safe and respected throughout.
Post-delivery, the follow-up care was just as thoughtful. I truly felt like I was in the best hands possible, and I’m so grateful for the positive birth experience I had thanks to Dr. Porter and the team.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr Porter for the delivery of our baby earlier this year. He truly stands apart in his level of care, particularly during delivery and postpartum. Given some complications in my first pregnancy, I appreciated how he walked us through our options, clearly explaining how they changed the risk profile. We revisited our plan as the pregnancy progressed, and I ultimately had a c-section. The surgery went perfectly, from my perspective, and my recovery was incredibly easy (one of my main concerns). Dr Porter never rushed our consults and we felt comfortable asking any questions that came to mind. Lastly, and importantly, he surrounds himself with a great team - his practice manager and reception were very helpful and always tried to accommodate requests. The surgical team was also fantastic - the anaesthetist was a stand out. I would highly recommend Dr Porter and his team.

Dr Porter was excellent! He is extremely thorough and always takes the time to provide clear and detailed explanations, which made me feel very informed and reassured throughout my care. After having a horrible experience with a GP at the start of my pregnancy, I became even more appreciative of doctors with good communication skills and he exceeded my expectations with his approach and kindness. I also ended up having a c-section and my scar is very small - it healed beautifully. I felt very well cared for and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful, skilled and compassionate obstetrician. Renee, Meghan (midwife) and other receptionists were just as great! 10 out of 10 to the whole team! 🙂

We had such a wonderful experience at Sydney Babies! Hugh led us each step of the pregnancy and post partum period, making sure we were well informed and took any concerns I had seriously. His knowledge and professionalism allowed me to have a fantastic birthing experience. René and Veronica are so warm and welcoming the moment you enter and always accommodating to shift appointments, particularly when I was unwell. Every visit to Hugh was a reassurance that we are in the best possible medical care in Sydney, he respected our choice of delivery and made all the effort all the way to maintain the plan whilst keeping both me and our baby girl safe.. we were well informed every step of the way and we were given the chance to make educated decisions during my pregnancy and the delivery too. Our birth plans changed unexpectedly at the end of my pregnancy and seeing Hugh at the hospital for the birth of our baby was the greatest relief to know I was in the safest hands. I can’t begin to thank Hugh and the team at Sydney Babies enough - from the initial phone call with the reception team (René, Veronica and Gill) we felt so welcome and at home.

Hugh is a one of a kind Obstetrician, one you struggle to find! He is calm, kind and caring and took the time in our initial appointment to get to know us as a family and our wishes through the pregnancy and birth. He eased my anxiety through the pregnancy with additional scans and was always on call 24/7 which made the world of a difference as well as coming to see us everyday in hospital. Our birth was so healing and what I had always dreamed of.

Megan, his midwife and lactation consultant was phenomenal and what a privilege to be able to see her during pregnancy and postpartum! After not being able to breastfeed my first baby, thanks to her and her support this journey is completely different!

If you are looking for a genuine and holistic approach to pregnancy, birth and postpartum Sydney Babies is the way to go and I would not hesitate to recommend.

As a first-time mum, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better doctor than Dr Hugh. From my very first appointment, he made me feel calm, informed, and completely supported. When it came time for the birth of my son, I was absolutely terrified, but Dr Hugh and his amazing team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and safe. His calm and reassuring manner, along with his incredible professionalism, made all the difference, I knew I was in the best possible hands. His follow-up care was just as wonderful, he always took the time to check in, answer questions, and make sure both my baby and I were doing well. And the way he would light up and jump at the chance for a cuddle with my little boy just melted my heart. You can tell he truly loves what he does. Hugh and his team are phenomenal. Pregnancy is a beautiful yet scary journey with lots of unknowns but having the right people with you makes all the difference. Hugh and his team knew I was anxious from the get go and treated me with the care and love that I needed, from phone calls to check in to reassurance scans early on in the pregnancy and Hugh’s way of explaining concepts to my husband and I in a way that made us understand without getting overwhelmed. Having appointments with Megan, a midwife and lactation consultant, during and after pregnancy as part of the Sydney Babies package was invaluable, especially with the difficulties in breastfeeding that I had immediately post birth. I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend Sydney Babies to other mamas and am so grateful to the team for the safe arrival of my baby.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Hugh and the wonderful Sydney Babies team. From the very first phone call with the reception staff (René, Veronica & Gill!), we felt so welcomed and at home.

Hugh is the kind of obstetrician every family hopes to have looking after them through their pregnancy journey. Not only is he professional and brilliant at what he does, Hugh is genuine and approachable, where he really took the time to get to know us as people, not just as patients. His calm and relaxed manner gave us such confidence throughout the pregnancy journey. It’s clear he goes over and above in the level of care he provides, for example, offering 24/7 support if we ever needed it, and he even came to visit us daily in the hospital after the birth.

We also wanted to give a special mention to Megan, who was wonderful as both a midwife and lactation consultant. Her kindness, care and expertise were invaluable during the pregnancy and postpartum period too.

We’re so grateful for the experience we had with Sydney Babies, we couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide us through this journey!

From my initial enquiry through to the 6 week postnatal appointment Dr Porter and his team made us feel so comfortable and like we had known them for years. Throughout the pregnancy, Dr Porter was so informative, relaxed and knowledgeable that despite this being my first pregnancy I never once had any concerns or worries as I knew I was in good hands. When my labour didn’t progress and I needed to have an unplanned C section, there was no concerns or angst as I knew Dr Porter had mine and my baby’s health and wellbeing as his priority. Choosing an OB was one of the most important decisions of my pregnancy journey, and from the very beginning, I knew I wanted someone I could trust—someone with expertise, but also someone personable, approachable, and who felt more like a friend. Well, I can honestly say that Dr. Hugh Porter and the team at Sydney Babies gave me exactly that and more!

From the moment I discovered Sydney Babies on social media, I was impressed. The informative posts and heartwarming videos gave me a glimpse of Dr. Porter’s approach, and I instantly felt a connection. His warmth, care, and professionalism shone through, and I was convinced he was the right choice for us after our initial meeting.

What truly sets Dr. Porter apart is his modern and caring approach. He goes above and beyond in ways that are rare in the field—like providing his personal mobile number to patients, ensuring he’s always accessible whenever you need him. The daily hospital visits when bub arrived were also a comfort.Even when I moved to the Southern Highlands mid-pregnancy, it was a no-brainer to continue seeing him. The care and support he provided made it easy to travel for my appointments, and I never once felt like I was missing out on anything.

The integrated midwife support at Sydney Babies is another standout feature. I honestly didn’t realise how much we needed it, but it turned out to be one of the greatest benefits. My husband and I left each midwife appointment with Mathilde & Megan feeling empowered, educated, and completely reassured that we had a strong support system in place. My mother attended one of the midwife appointments with us and was extremely impressed.

From the very first moment you step through the door, you’re greeted like family—because to Dr. Porter and his team, you truly are family. Renè and Veronica at the front desk are two of the loveliest people I’ve met, always so welcoming and kind; we could talk until the cows come home! It’s easy to feel at ease when you’re surrounded by such a warm and genuine team.

Thanks to Sydney Babies, my entire pregnancy experience has been seamless, worry-free, and incredibly enjoyable. Not everyone raves about their OB, but my husband & I absolutely do!

Dr Hugh Porter is an exceptional obstetrician who is knowledgeable, skilled, passionate and committed to delivering high quality care to his patients.

He was incredibly caring and supportive throughout my pregnancy. From the initial through to my 6 week postnatal appointment, I felt reassured and confident that everything was going smoothly.

The support received from the midwives at Sydney Babies provided an additional layer of support and guidance as my husband and I navigated parenthood for the first time.

René and Veronica, the amazing office staff, made us feel welcome and comfortable as we attended each and every appointment.

This delivery was extra special to my family not only because it was our first child, but because his father delivered my siblings.

Dr. Hugh Porter is an exceptional obstetrician who made our pregnancy journey incredibly special. His personable and professional demeanor put us at ease from the very beginning. He was always patient, understanding, and took the time to answer all of our questions.
