I can’t recommend Dr Hugh and his team enough.
From the first appointment, Dr Porter had a caring and supportive attitude. Right up until postpartum, I felt completely safe and cared for. Nothing was ever too hard and his team was very responsive the entire way through my pregnancy. I would look forward to each visit, it actually felt like visiting family as his whole team are so welcoming and caring!
Dr Porter is supported by an amazing team including the most helpful and lovely office managers, Renè and Veronica and Megan, a private midwife/ lactation consultant. They too contributed to such a positive experience.
Post birth, Dr Porter and his team were extremely caring. From post op care advice to even popping by when he could in the hospital, ensuring that we had all the support and medical help we needed.
In addition to the care and support, most importantly Dr Porter was an extremely knowledgeable and thorough medical professional. At every stage, I had 100 per cent trust in his advice and decisions- I felt completely safe and will be forever grateful for his quick decision making and expertise, bringing our baby into the world safely!

I had the most wonderful experience welcoming my second child with Dr. Hugh Porter and his incredible team. Being able to have a maternal-assisted caesarean made the birth truly special—a memory I will cherish forever. From my very first phone consultation to every appointment, Dr. Porter made me feel comfortable and supported. I changed OB at 27 weeks, because my OB made me feel pressured about inductions and didn’t support water births.
After a relatively easy pregnancy I was one of those who had a more complicated birth. I wanted a water birth and little intervention and while fate had it otherwise, I did not feel pressured into changing my wishes, and was explained our options along the way. I felt heard and respected — Hugh tailored his recommendations based on his understanding of what we wanted, balancing personalised care with professional advice.
Post birth Hugh talked with me about the experience, as often as we needed to help us recover. Unlike some places that will only give you the reception’s number, Hugh was reachable at any time to answer my questions. He even had me come in on a Sunday morning last minute to check on my stitches so that I wouldn’t have to wait the following day.

Dr Hugh and his whole team were exceptional carers to have on our journey in bringing our first child into this world. From consultation through to delivery of our baby boy, we trusted Dr Hugh implicitly. He is transparent, caring and also has a great sense of humour. I have nothing but praise for Dr Hugh and all the team at Sydney Babies. From our very first appointment to our 6 week check up, once our little bub was born, my husband and I felt like we were in safe hands.
We were guided every step of the way, through scans and different tests. No question was too silly and we left every appointment positive with peace of mind.
I had such positive - dare I say magic? - birth experience and I think it came down to how prepared Sydney Babies helped us to be and that we were in safe hands.

We cannot speak highly enough of Dr Porter and the entire team at Sydney Babies. From the very first appointment through to the delivery of our baby, the care we received was exceptional. Dr Porter is not only an amazing obstetrician but also incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely attentive. He took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all of our questions so thoroughly, and made us feel completely confident and supported.
Rene and the rest of the admin team were equally as amazing and so incredibly responsive. They made every visit feel so personal and comforting, and we really do miss seeing them all so regularly!
If we are lucky enough to have another baby, we will definitely be back to see Dr Porter and the team!

My wife and I cannot recommend Dr Porter and his team enough. We had the most dream pregnancy and what looked like to be a routine birth, our baby had a different plan and decided to come down sideways. Thankfully we had Dr Porter who talked us through our options and gave us the space to make an informed decision. With the trust we had built with Dr Porter and the knowledge he equipped us with, we felt reassured during our difficult labour and had our happy and healthy baby boy in an amazing birth experience made possible by Dr Porter. The care throughout our labour was great, but having him by our side during birth and post to walk us through our journey while we tried to wrap our heads around what we’ve just achieved we truly appreciate and as busy as Dr Porter is, we really felt prioritised, always giving us the time we needed to talk. A big thank you to Dr Porter and his team, René, Megan and everyone at Sydney Babies, we are excited to meet again for round 2 down the track!

Dr Porter is an exceptional obstetrician & we couldn’t recommend him more highly! He goes above and beyond for his patients & we feel so grateful to have been under his care. His knowledge, kindness, compassion and incredibly caring nature made us feel at ease throughout the pregnancy & delivery.

Absolutely adored everyone at Sydney babies they helped my husband and I so much through the pregnancy. They all are so caring and loving and make you feel so happy and calm. Dr hugh is always around even for a text or call if you have a concern as simple as can I take this medication.. He would respond so quickly, it was mind easing!! Definitely would recommend Dr hugh and Sydney babies to anyone out there!!!!! Thank you so much again Dr hugh and Sydney babies for the safe arrival Of our baby boy, Archie !!!

Dr Hugh Porter is highly professional, personable and kind. Having chosen shared care for this birth at Northern Beaches Hospital, Hugh still checked in on us multiple times during the birth, despite us being in the care of midwives. He was always contactable on his mobile during the pregnancy, and genuinely cared about any concern we had. Thank you to Hugh, the midwives at NBH and Hugh’s lovely practice manager Rene!

I was recommended Dr Hugh Porter by my fertility specialist, and found him and his team at Sydney Babies to be exceptional.
I was a high risk pregnancy but at no stage did I feel that I was in any danger. Dr Porter was diligent with my monitoring and testing, and always ensured that the baby and I were taken care of and safe. He was very transparent with his advice, his recommendations and I felt informed and in control the entire time.
I even felt like my cesarean was as enjoyable as a cesarean could be, with the team Dr Porter put together for the surgery.

We started our journey in February 2024. We sat on the couch and ran through the list of obstetricians available to us at Northern Beaches Hospital. We were both pleased to know we picked the same doctor. From then, it was meant to be and our journey to parenthood was a beautiful experience which I know was made possible through the streamlined care I received at one of the most transformative times of my life.
Dr Porter has compassion and care for his patients and was driven to make my chosen birth possible. The lead up to my birth I felt safe knowing I had formed trust in my doctor to guide me with the safest options of care for me and my baby. The birth remains the most incredible day of my life. Dr Porter was there for me and my baby when we needed him. There is nothing more I could have asked for on the day of my delivery.
During my postnatal period I received regular check ins from Dr Porter regarding my recovery. I couldn't ask for anything more!
Megan is another gem that makes the well oiled machine work. I had the privilege of feeling safe with Megan, able to talk about whatever I needed to throughout my care. She provided support to me, calmed my anxieties and made it okay for me to feel every emotion of pregnancy and post partum. She provided me breastfeeding support and helped simplify the journey for me. She reassured me that I knew what was best for my baby and to give everyone else the finger that told me otherwise. I am grateful for Megan and her commitment to supporting women during these often challenging and scary times.
Rene, Veronica and Jill. They dealt with me calling up many times constantly forgetting my appointment time. Rene is a professional baby cuddler and was always there to provide reassurance. These beautiful women were all committed to the cause and I am forever grateful for their chats at each visit and over the phone.

The team at Sydney Babies are simply amazing! This was my second pregnancy and birth and I couldn’t have been happier with the choice I made to go with Dr Porter and his amazing team. From the first phone call with Rene who was so welcoming and lovely every single visit, to the very last day at the 6 week check up, every visit was great. Dr Porter was so genuinely kind and caring and really supportive of me during my pregnancy and birth - I remember during labour seeing him arrive for delivery with a big, encouraging smile on his face and I knew I was in the best care I could have hoped for.
